Iqra’a University Secures NCHE Accreditation
20 April 2026
Iqra’a University is pleased to announce that it has been granted accreditation by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), formally recognizing the institution as a fully accredited provider of higher education in Malawi.
This accreditation, awarded in March, represents a significant achievement following years of institutional development, strategic planning, and a sustained commitment to academic excellence. Formerly operating as the International College of Business and Management (ICBM), the University has evolved into a comprehensive higher learning institution offering diverse and industry-relevant academic programmes.
The Vice Chancellor, Alfred Matiki, noted that the accreditation affirms that the University’s programmes meet nationally approved standards and are aligned with international benchmarks for quality higher education. He emphasized that this recognition provides assurance to students, parents, and stakeholders regarding the credibility and integrity of the qualifications offered.
Iqra’a University remains committed to providing inclusive and accessible education to students from all backgrounds. While grounded in strong Islamic values, the institution promotes a holistic learning environment that fosters academic excellence, ethical conduct, and the development of responsible and productive citizens.
The University offers a range of accredited programmes, including Community Development, Business Administration, Marketing, Public Health, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Accountancy. These programmes are designed to equip graduates with the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to succeed in a competitive and dynamic global environment.
This milestone marks an important step in the University’s continued growth and reinforces its mission to contribute meaningfully to national development through quality education, research, and community engagement.
